Ash has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Non-Hodgkin lymphoma and is currently in Christchurch receiving treatment. As you can imagine it is a rather stressful time for him and his family.
Ash plays for our U9 team - he has been a member of the NRFC since he joined the U6s and loves his rugby. Ash started to feel unwell part way through this season, but still turned up to every game and training that he could, always giving it his all.
Lisa, his coach has designed, with the help of probrands, a t-shirt in his favourite colour – red.
You can buy the t-shirt and show your support for Ash by sending a photo of you wearing the t-shirt to Lisa (lisaandparis@hotmail.com) who will forward the images to Ash and his family. The idea is that Ash will see how many people are supporting him and are ‘part of his team’. And of course, all proceeds will go to his family to help with anything they may need.
Ash sent Lisa a video message from his hospital bed the other day saying he can't wait to get better so he can play rugby again!
Congratulations to all the teams that competed in the Goodman 7s.

It was a great day, with a very busy schedule so that all the games would be over in time for participants to cheer the Mako to victory.
We want to thank our guests of honor Trish and Jane Goodman, Gary, Chris and the Mako Development Squad for refereeing the games, helping set up / take down all the equipment and Quentin and Jo for all the hard work they put in to make the day work.
Congratulations David Havili and Ethan Blackadder.
We know how hard you have both worked to achieve this goal and it is well deserved.
David and Ethan were both outstanding this season and their selections reflect the contribution they made to the Mako and Crusader successful seasons.
Coach Ian Foster was impressed with how David stepped into that fullback role and the skill set that he brings to a game - a great ball carrier in terms of his leg drive and in the tackle he's physical in that area and certainly he's grown in his defensive accuracy and what he does there. He brings a nice all-round skill set.
Ethan Blackadder - the impressive features of Ethan's game were his consistency in his play and an ability to absorb requirements and develop them.
This year we recognised the contribution, loyalty, and commitment of five players that wear the jersey with pride, honouring the tradition and values of the club.
Dylan Turnbull played his 100th game for the club. Dylan joins an elite few to achieve this milestone.
Dave Egelstaff, Asher Wells, Christian Tupuola and Inoke Latu all played their 50th game for the club.
